NSG #8
Nov 7th
Hi all, I’d just like to inform those of you who check this website that NSG #8 is on the 17th and 18th of November! This event will have a cool new feature, namely 20 Sit and Go machines! These machines are pre loaded with games for those who don’t feel like bringing PCs or don’t have them! No extra fee is required to use these machines, just come along, pay the entry fee, and you’re set!
NSG would also like to welcome Jen Smith, Rhys Morton and Gumby to the Admin Team! They will be responsible for organising competitions this event, and for our future events.
The entry fee is $15, and LAN cable hire is $2.00. People are welcome to bring their own LAN cables.
We are running a dinner barbecque as usual. Sausages will be $2.50, drinks will be $2.00.
Hope to see you all there!
MaqLAN
Oct 13th
Hi NSG! Things are kicking into high gear this week as we make the final preparations for MaqLAN, on next weekend. If you’ve not registered for the event, you can do so here.
For those who don’t know, MaqLAN is a LAN event held at Macquarie University, sponsored currently by Macquarie Uni Computing Society, Microsoft, Sony, Monster, TT Esports, Gigabyte, and being run by the admins of NSG, SOGC, MPU, and MaqLAN. This event, LANTaco, is the second event held by MaqLAN, and as a joint event, will have more than 200 people there! For more information, visit the MaqLAN event page on Facebook, or check out their website.
NSG #7 is booked!
Aug 25th
Hi everybody, this is just a post to let you know that our next event has been booked in for the 22nd-23rd of September. The event will start at 11AM, and end at 3pm. We will almost definitely be running a dinner barbecue again, at the same $2 price, and as usual, we will be selling soft drink cans for $1 throughout the event.
As it stands, we haven’t really had any response via the forums or via Facebook about the Internet issue, so we will need to open a discussion at the LAN about the price of entry. For now, we’ll raise it to $15. We’ll decide whether to keep it raised after the discussion at the event. As always, check the FAQ, give us any feedback that you’d like to via the Facebook page or the forums, and we hope to see you there!
Conclusion to NSG #6
Jul 31st
Well, NSG #6 was a complete success! We are very happy with the way things turned out, especially with the inaugrual NSG barbecue. We are very likely going to repeat the barbecue for dinner (though perhaps with more sausages initially).
Congratulations to Jordan, AKA CarNNN, for winning our COD4 tournament! Jordan has the privilege of naming our next event, as well as the token prizes of a can of drink and a sausage sandwich.
One thing we will be aiming to discuss on the forums and on Facebook is the cost of Internet. We spent over $100 on wireless Internet for the event, and we didn’t like the result of limiting the speed because it made it difficult to connect to Steam properly (which is largely why we provide it.) The question that we want feedback on is: Are you, the attendees, willing to pay $15 for the continued provision of Internet, or would you prefer to continue paying $10, and lose the internet connection? Discussion on this point will be taking place over the next few weeks on the forums and on Facebook.
Finally, a minor issue, could people who hire NSG LAN cables please return them to either Nick or Luke when they are leaving – people who know how to roll cables would earn our gratitude by rolling them as well.
As always, feedback from the community would be much appreciated on any matter. We exist because of you, and we want to involve you as much as possible in the growth and planning of NSG.
NSG LAN Number 6
Jul 23rd
Alright guys, North Shore Gamers 6th LAN event will be on THIS WEEKEND, (July 28th & 29th) from 11am to 3pm. Obviously this information is available both on our Facebook page, the Facebook event page, and of course the “Events” section of our website.
We urge everybody to take a look at the FAQ, as things do and HAVE CHANGED. Notably, we have introduced a $2 hiring fee for the use of NSG LAN cables, due to a lack of people providing their own. We emphatically encourage people to bring their own LAN cables (remembering of course that anything less than 4 metres is next to useless).
Thanks all, we really hope to see as many of you at the event as possible, we are really looking forward to it! Please feel free to post any comments or opinions on the NSG forums, and anyone having trouble with accounts on the forums or NSG website please feel free to drop us a comment on Facebook, or message us at nsg@.nsg.net.au and we will do our best to get it all sorted out.
Kind Regards, NSG Admin Team

New Website Host
May 2nd
Hi All,
I’ve taken control of the NSG website and moved it to my own server. This has been done due to the stagnation of this website, I’ll be handing the ability to modify the website out to the relevant people. Hopefully this will mean that this website can spring into life!
Real Website!
Mar 21st
North Shore Gamers now has a real website, along with the forums.
If you are interested, we are currently running this on wordpress.
If you have any suggestions as to how we can make all this stuff better, just let us know in our Feedback and Suggestions Forum.
